Right folks, we’re in strange territory now, aren’t we?
This whole going to the last day of the season  thing is a concept that we’d forgotten. Gordon and the Bhoys have been so adept at handing us the SPL trophy around, say Easter or, like last year, Advent, that we’ve forgotten about it all coming down to the last game.
I’m not complaining though.
Thanks to the Celts thrilling form of late; the Hibs victory was our sixth on the trot, we’re in a position that everybody from the so-called informed media right through to Mystic Meg would not have foreseen.
They’ve all been cup finals as well and Sunday’s victory followed suit with a slender lead being extended late on in the game.
Naturally, you’ll want to see the Full Ninety on The Match which goes out at 5.15 and 8pm on Monday as well as 9.30 on Wednesday night.
It’s been a period for Celts to stand up and be tall. ( Yes, even 4 foot 2 Skippy!) and a list of heroes would take longer than we’ve got. I want to say this though…..how outstanding was big Artur at the week-end?
Brian Clough used to say that Peter Shilton was worth 18 points a season to Nottingham Forest when they were in their pomp and AB falls into that category for us.
He had some breathtaking stops against the Hibees and I know there will be punters pointing fingers and recalling the Easter Road match earlier this season when the big chap had an off day.
However, Gordon Strachan made the point after that game that the Holy Goalie had saved our bacon on many an occasion and was not entitled to criticism for a one-off display.
Hear Hear.
And so, it’s off to Tannadice a week on Thursday for a showdown.
All we can do is keep cranking it up big style. Who knows, we may even be Champions without having to kick a ball if results were to go our way but you can bet the current holders of the SPL flag will be doing their best to bag the points anyway and go out with a bang.
These going to the wire gigs can be right terrible on the nerves but it’s nice to know that on this particular last game of the season, Scott McDonald is playing for US.
Come on guys………….forgive him.
31 goals in a season does it for me and there’s maybe even the possibility that Skippy will be pushing that to 34 with another hat-trick against the Arabs!
Fasten your seatbelts…………..it’s gonna be a hell of a ride!
